Allison Sciandra started her career in education in 1989 as a first grade teacher in Brooklyn, where she helped implement Balanced Literacy throughout District 22. After spending 9 years as a classroom teacher, she continued her passion for teaching reading to “at-risk” students by becoming a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. From 1998-2003, she helped teachers become keen observers of their students in order to help every child learn. As Borough Instructional Technology Assistant Director for Staten Island/South Brooklyn from 2004-2008, she has supervised/coordinated Region 6 & Region 7's Title IID Grant (EETT) as well as helped develop and implement the highly successful citywide iLead Program. For the last year, Allison continued her work in instructional technology as Senior Instructional Technolog Design Specialist, where she provided instructional support to the nine new NYC 21st century model schools that opened this September. She still continuing to assist with these "innovative" schools but is now back at home with her Office of Educational Team where she can provide direct support to TItle IID schools.
