I am currently working with 2 classes + selected students from another class. I have been using: googledocs, wikispaces and voicethread so far.

I am a technology teacher at Curtis High School who has a B.S in Computer Science and a M.S. in Instructional Technology (IT). I have worked for years in private industry as a programmer/analyst, web site developer and IT consultant. I am enjoying the opportunity to "give back" and share my IT experiences and knowledge with our next generation of students. Our country has a shortage in Computer Science (and the sciences in general), and I hope to open their eyes to the IT world and the many career opportunities that exist. I'm also excited about sharing with them what I've learned about the world of Linux and open-source software. Giving, generous programmers have created and shared, on the web, a vast amount of free software available for our use. The source code of this open-source software is also available for modifications. Not to mention an online community of free support!

Here is a list of classes that I teach:
  1. College Computers - students learn the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access) through class projects in a MS Windows XP environment, career options and an insight into the world of business.
  2. Web Site Design - students learn how to design and develop web pages using HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash through class projects.
  3. Computer Science - students learn how to design and develop software, the basic constructs of computer programming using the Java programming language in a Linux OS environment and have a good understanding of technology and the world around us. This will be accomplished through class projects and homework assignments. http://ibcompsci.wikispaces.com/
  4. Information Technology in a Global Society (ITGS) - students develop a good understanding of a variety of technologies and the impact technology has on the world around us. http://curtisitgs.wikispaces.com/
  5. Career & Financial Management - students are expected to learn about different career options and practical life skills such as: budgeting, setting goals, investments, credit, credit cards, debt, buying insurance, etc.
